Female Perversions Pillow & Poster

Designed, Constructed, Embroidered June 2025

To celebrate the From Below Microcinema’s screening of Susan Streitfeld’s Female Perversions (1996) as part of our ongoing Advanced Tilda Studies series, I constructed and hand-embroidered a satin pillow with the title of the film, which was raffled off at the screening to one lucky attendee.

The film Female Perversions was adapted from Louise J. Kaplan’s monograph of the same name. Throughout the film, Kaplan’s theses on female perversions appear as part of the mise en scène in the form of graffiti, billboards, and, yes, an embroidered pillow. I simply couldn’t resist running with that image as the central design conceit to promote our screening of the film.
